Being a grandmother who likes some young adult fiction I gave this one a try. The subject of Atlantis has lately caught my fancy. But in the first couple of chapters I was asking myself whether I could actually continue on with all the "kid stuff". Then things smoothed out, caught my interest and moved me right along. However, I kept waiting for a connection with Atlantis. If it was there I missed it completely. Like another reviewer, I also kept expecting some kind of connection between Elliott and Nicholas. Darn! That would have been so cool.I gave this two stars because inspite of all my unrequited expectations it held my interest right up to the last couple of chapters. I stayed up long past my work night bedtime, eager to read a fantastic ending. I got there and felt cheated. My attitude was: "I stayed up for that?!" Oversimplification and loose ends jangling all over the place. So many possibilities that fell far too short. I'm glad it was only $.99.
This review will be down at the very bottom and probably no one will ever read it, but I feel better venting my frustration.

Atlantis Lisa Graves 9781463505790 Books Reviews
I should have reviewed this while it was fresh in my mind (it's been a month) but better late than never...
This book was interesting. It touched on some intriguing ideas, and had almost a ghost story quality about it. I enjoyed the dialogue between the characters, and the relationships they had. There were a few minor things that left me wondering a little, though - I found myself wondering while reading it if there would be some sort of connection between the characters of Elliott and Nicholas, and felt that could have been explored. But there is always room for a sequel... I also couldn't quite pinpoint the age of the characters. They were old enough for Lilly's parents not to be concerned about leaving her alone overnight, but young enough that she was still living at home. I thought either high school but 11th or 12th grade, or college but home on break.
All in all, I would recommend this to people who like supernatural romance stories. In some ways it is a little like Twilight, but without that whole "love sucking the life out of people" that seems to come with vampire stories. (I was glad it wasn't a vampire story for that reason.) It covered another "supernatural" idea that hasn't been touched on very often, but I don't want to give too much away.
All in all, this is one of the better "independently published" books I've found.
There are no explanations here, & honestly by the non-ending I didn't care.Lilly, Charlotte & Nick are friends. Lilly meets Edmond,(who no one else has seen) & falls for him.The rest is a mishmash. Lilly & Edmond have a past in Italy togather, but we don't know why or how they are here today. Since this is the beginning of a series, our curiosity is supposed to carry us to the next book. The "ending" ( & I use the term very loosely, more of a "author stopped writing")is a cop out for a writer that didn't have enough story to wrap it up. A major peeve w/ this book in two parts,1) the use of "hoe" as a 'cute' nickname for the girls & 2) MISSPELLING ho.
I saw this book for free a couple of days ago on . The summary looked good and it mentioned Atlantis, so I thought I'd checked it out. I love the legend about Atlantis, so I thought I'd give this a try. I was really excited about it.
But by the end of the book I was flat out disappointed. Atlantis is barely mentioned. Most the whole book is about Lilly's obsession/addiction to the presence of Elliot. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good love story... but not when it dominates the whole book. Sure, there are some tidbits about their past life in Italy, and that was interesting. And a hint about how those lives might have ended. But I was left hanging. I kept expecting them to find out they also had a past life in Atlantis or something. Or find out how/why they were separated. Where was Elliot and why wasn't he incarnated on Earth like she was? Maybe those things were explained in the second book, but after so many disappointments, the juvenile drama/language, the repetition (okay, I get it. He smells like flowers. His aura is tingly. Nicholas is stubborn and Charlotte is a drama queen. Tell me something new)
Honesty, when I finished Atlantis, I couldn't believe it. I sat there tapping the next page thinking my app was malfunctioning. I even wondered if sent me a sample and I would have to buy the whole version. Cliff-hangers are expected. I get that. But this was different. This left me feeling like I missed whole chunks of the story at random parts. I just can't rationalize spending $2.99 on the sequel when I don't know that it will be worth it.
Don't get me wrong. This book has a lot of potential, which means the author has a lot of potential. I hope she reads these reviews and they help her. But unless I get an opportunity to read Stonehenge for free, I won't read it at all. I really have no reason to think it'd be worth my time.
